Merry Christmas from Dubai!

“I’ve been dreaming of a white Christmas. Just like the ones  I used to know…” – White Christmas

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Well technically it’s not Christmas yet, but Christmas Eve is just as fun for me. In fact, as I have gotten older, it’s not just the day of Christmas that is special, but the build up as well. From the holiday cheer and beautiful decorations to the time spent with family, Christmas has always been my favorite holiday!

I love this Nativity set from Palestine, more specially near Bethlehem (Jesus’ birthplace) that Rocket gave me as a gift last year. I love having reminders about the true meaning of Christmas!

Celebrating my first Christmas in Dubai, it’s funny to think that here in the Middle East, I live closer to Jesus’s birth place than ever before. You may be wondering what Christmas in Dubai is like considering the United Arab Emirates is a Muslim country. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of Christmas decorations around the city including the songs and special shopping deals in all the malls. Even more surprising for me was the idea of a Muslim or Hindu family putting up a Christmas tree!

In Dubai, there are many activities for families to enjoy the holiday season from German themed markets to multiple Christmas tree lighting festivities. Even though we did have a “white” Christmas Eve, the only thing missing is the frigid cold weather! Rocket definitely doesn’t miss it as much as I do!

White Christmas!

Today we woke up to this! What normally are very clear skies were filled with such dense fog that you can’t see anything out of our window! If it happens tomorrow we really will have a white Christmas!

Merry Christmas from our house to yours…all the way from Dubai!

  1. Love your excitement of the closeness you have with Dubai and Christ’s birth place.
